Managerial level
Managerial level papers assume that you have completed all of the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, or have relevant exemptions, so you must ensure that you have a good working knowledge of the Certificate papers before commencing Managerial level.
At Managerial level you can study the papers in any order you prefer and attempt as many papers as you wish at each sitting. However, the following routes are recommended by me financial training as providing a manageable balance between narrative and numerical subjects and allowing you to build on the knowledge learned in previous papers.
Taking 2 papers at a time
P1 (PE) & P7 (FAT), then P2 (DM) & P4 (OMIS), finishing with P5 (IM) & P8 (FA)
Taking 3 papers at a time
P1 (PE), P4 (OMIS) & P7 (FAT), finishing with P2 (DM), P5 (IM) & P8 (FA) |
Remember that you must complete all of the Managerial level before starting the Strategic level.
Strategic level
There are three papers at this level, all testing knowledge and application skills, and building on knowledge gained at Managerial level; your tutor will identify what knowledge is assumed during your Strategic level courses.
CIMA’s rules state that you must study for and sit all three papers at your first attempt at Strategic level. After your first sitting, you can take any papers that you need to re-sit in any order.
