Fundamental - Knowledge

Overview
There are three papers in this module:

F1 Accountant in Business (AB)
F2 Management Accounting (MA)
F3 Financial Accounting (FA)

All three Knowledge module examinations are two hours long and can be sat at computer-based or paper-based exams. Questions will assess all parts of the syllabus and will contain both computational and non computational elements. The examination will consist of 40 two mark questions, and 10 one mark questions.

Our advice
Our advice is to do all three Knowledge module papers through the CBE route to give you the maximum flexibility. The benefits of the CBE are:

  • The exams can be taken at any time
  • Your result is given immediately on completion of the exam
  • A failed paper can be retaken immediately if required.

Integrated courses
Our Integrated courses combine Exam Based Learning and Exam Preparation allowing you to study for one paper at a time, so you can focus on passing that paper. At the end of the course, you are ready to attempt your CBE. Our courses are offered on a Weekday or Weekend basis, each paper being taught over 4 to 6 days depending on the subject – F1 courses are 4 days long whilst those for F2 and F3 are 6 days long.

These courses will be available right through to the deadline – click here for details.

Important notes
If you are registered from 1 January 2008, you can sit up to 3 CBEs (F1, F2 and F3) between 1 January 2008 and 31 July 2008 (the June exam cycle) and can attempt these papers as many times as you wish during this period. You will then be restricted to sit a maximum of four papers (by CBEs or paper- based exams) between 1 August 2008 and 31 January 2009 (the December exam cycle). If you are registered with ACCA from 16 August 2008, you can sit up to three CBEs before 31 January 2009 (counts as the December exam cycle) and still be able to sit a maximum of four papers (by CBEs or paper-based exams) between 1 February 2009 and 31 July 2009 (the June exam cycle).
